When the Model T -10 Go Karts were released back in the 1950’s the original steering wheel was 8.75 inches in diameter. The original steering wheel was also prone to breaking, as the main spokes would crack. The smaller diameter some riders found to be too small and cumbersome, so in the early 1970’s when Crue Cut took over the McDonough Go kart line they increased the diameter to 9.75 inches.
The new design was made with underside ribs, however they were prone to cracking the spokes after awhile.
This steering wheel design is the larger 9.75 inch diameter but it also has generous underside strengthening ribs. These ribs are more developed than the originals making the spokes superior in strength.
The steering wheel is made out of cast aluminum and is cast in house with our proprietary casting system.
